Printers

For those of you who are reading this, and have read my posts on the AAFES complaint thread, you are aware of how I feel about the selections offered by them at Kadena, and Foster. :barf:

My questions are: Has anyone out there purchased a printer off base? If I buy a printer off-base, can I then come home and download the American driver version for that model, and will it work?

Yes! Especially if you are running XP or Vista...it will work wonderfully!

Well, that was quick Doc. What are you up to? :D

No, I don't want my old printer back. But I appreciate the offer. We were over at Best in Korinza Mall, and I saw a Canon 830, scanner, printer, fax, all-in-one. But when I asked the lady in the store she said that the printer wouldn't work on an American computer running the American version of XP-Pro.

I have Vista Business Edition, which runs great on my computer. Decided to go back to XP-Pro, because some versions of Tiger Woods golf games behaved erratically. I purchased Tiger Woods 2008, before we came over, but this version of the game doesn't like me. Maybe with more practice I'll get used to it, but we've been very busy during the past few weeks. \:-)

I don't understand why it wouldn't work with the American version??? If the side of the box says windows XP, then it should work. There really isn't much difference between the two.

I find quite often that sales people are shy to sell electronics products to Americans. Quite often people try to return something because they can't get it to work...but it is not an equipment problem, but a user problem.

Check canons website and see what it says.
