I came up with a new theory: Typhoon cooties and Okinawa's got a bad case.

that's the difference between japan and america. stick to something that is happening in japan to japan. If japan was to tell you about a hurricane in the gulf, would you trust them or some weather guru in florida?

PLEASE come to okinawa, I want some free paid days off. (typhoon party yaaa) just come before the 11th. But I bet the damn thing is going to go off to the right ;(
I'm starting to think that I may subconsciously be able to control the weather. Like, I've been really negative lately about typhoons, so maybe I'm actually pushing them to Taiwan / Mainland Japan! Maybe I developed some super power somehow! :p
That explains how my typhoon predictions are always right lately...

Actually if you're a single military guy that lives in the barracks typhoons suck. You get confined to the barracks, are not allowed to drink (legally) and the duty checks to make sure you're there every couple hours.

As far as I know NAF and contractors don't get paid for being off during typhoons.
In any case the military deserves any days off they get and then some.

Fixed it for you. :thumbup1: Typhoon parties in the bricks used to rock. The key for us was to stock up on booze and smokes then sign in a bunch of "guests" before they locked the gates. Not like getting off post was all that difficult but hey, life was good for us. :D

A better approach would have been to post something along the lines of "that's not true because (insert proper info here).

I got married and moved out of the barracks (off base) just about the same time they made the regulation that all marines are on duty status during a typhoon. So, the regulation kind of didn't apply. I know, before someone on here gets all fired up and says it did apply and starts a 3 page argument, I only say didn't apply because what the SDO don't know, won't hurt em. hahaha
It was classic seeing the lines at the store before typhoon. Every jarhead had cases of beer, doritos, and cigarrettes. The smart ones bought some ramen to sell to the drunk idiots at 3 am. It was awesome.
The best was watching one genuis decide to go sailing during a typhoon........standing in a mop bucket holding a piece of plywood, "sailing" through the parking lot.

Thanks. I wish it was my own picture. Before I left Okinawa, I wanted to make a photo collection of shisa's all over the island. Maybe I can continue that idea when I come back.
