I'm putting the down payment on my home soon, and need a good yen rate!
Anyone tried the place near Kitamae? Always see lots of Y plates parked there.
Any other places for about $20,000 worth of yen?

All of the off base places will be pretty much the same.
The best thing to do is to find an individual that will give you a good rate for conversion. If you find someone with enough cash I'm sure they'd be willing to make an even exchange.

Most will take $50's and $100's. I wish you had asked a few weeks ago, I would have put you in contact with someone. They used to give me 4-5 pts higher than the bank on my yen exchange. That would be nice right about now.
