When I plug in my HDMI cable to my TV from my computer, the video is fine, but the audio won't play. I have to uninstall my audio drivers, then reboot the computer. It seems to see the TV, and let me use its audio after that. When I want to change it back to the computer speakers, I have to do the same process.

Both my desktop and my laptop do the same damn thing. Any hints?

I think you may need to reinstall the data link layer.

I had something like that happen to mine. I'm running vista and normally everything would switch over to the tv automatically when I hooked up the HDMI. But last couple times the audio wouldn't switch over and I would have to right click on the volume icon, select playback devices, and then manually switch it to "Digital Output Device (HDMI)". Then do the same thing to switch it back to the speakers.

Oh, yeah. I knew that.\:-)

Thanks, P_chan. Tried your trick and it works for me. :D

My VAIO laptop has a blue ray rom, but I was experiencing the same problem that some other posters out there had.

I was thinking about buying a blue ray disc player tomorrow, but now that I've got the hdmi sound working, I can hold off until we buy the big screen tv.

I've got a 42 inch plasma and any HD programs that I play on my laptop over the tv via HDMI looks awesome:thumbup: The new FMA brotherhood episodes look especially good. Bones, if you need a decent media player try VLC or Windows Media Player Classic Home Cinema Edition. I sometimes get sketchy playback with VLC but media player classic home cinema hasn't failed me yet:thumbup:

I change the playback device to the HD TV, but it's never worked. The volume "display" moves with the audio, but there isn't any.

I can't do any changes unless I uninstall the drivers, and have them install themselves when I reboot the computer.

just RCA your audio from the laptop to the TV, or put it through a separate sound setup
