2 Marines arrested over separate incidents in Okinawa
NAHA -- Local police arrested two U.S. Marines on Saturday in separate incidents in the cities of Okinawa and Naha.
Lance Corporal Jerry Robbins Jr., 22, stationed at Futenma Air Base, has been charged with forcing his way onto the premises of two buildings in Naha at around 2:50 a.m.
Lance Corporal Toby Akio Noe, 29, of Camp Foster, is accused of stealing a handbag left on a table at a nightclub in Naha, containing 11,500 yen in cash and a mobile phone.
Both Marines have denied the charges.
Police say that the owner of the handbag called her mobile phone shortly after she realized it was stolen. Noe apparently answered, saying "Hello."

Question 1, just for benefit of the doubt here, if he answered the phone, does that mean he actually intended to steal it? I mean, was the bag sitting there and he swiped it when someones head was turned, OR was the bag sitting on the same table for like 4 hours, until Lcpl ****nuts decides, damn, I think that (marginally) hot chick left her bag. Maybe if I pick it up and give it to her, itll be like a conversation starter...
Just saying. Maybe thats reaching, but then again so is he STOLE her bag but answered the phone inside. sounds fishy.

"yep. Wrestled it away from the guy that stole it, but he got away. How do I find you and return it?"
"you're my hero. Wanna come to my house and clean the pool?"

LOL :D you guys are funny sometimes. These incidents and the two underaged airmen who were caught drunk and driving in Naha a couple weeks ago are just adding wood to the fire that the brass is going to light under all of us SOFA people. Hopefully, they restrict the units or squadrons (or whatever) these motards belong to before condemning the rest of us who did nothing wrong.

Your argument has been reviewed and falls into the "Logical" category, and therefore will be ignored. If you would like to make another suggestion, please ensure it falls into one of the following categories:
Bullshit
Knee-jerk
WTF?
Illogical
Micromanagement
By ensuring you meet these guidelines you will be able to take a more active role in suppressing the morale of the troops while simultaneously ensuring low retention rates.

Hey that's a really good point you bring up. Maybe he was set up by the chick. She could have been like, "Hey babe watch my purse for me while I go to the bathroom." Then she could have left him there holding the purse. Mean while she is calling the cops on her friends phone, "Oh my god!! My purse was stolen with my iphone in it that had like a zillion of the coolest aps on it!!". Cops show up and the kid is busted.
Could be a revenge thing, maybe he cheated on her and this is her way to get back at him.

How about they just punish the indiviual that messes up instead of the whole mass punishment bullshit.
Why should anybody else be punished for someone else?
You know what's funny about the military is they're so ready and more then willing to give mass punishment but why not mass rewards?

Agreed, but they've had a history of punishing the masses when punishing the individual doesn't work. So, instead of punishing every SOFA status individual, perhaps they could start with that person's unit, as if to say, "You should've watched out for your guy or educated him better or told us she or he is a screwup in the first place."

That used to be the way many things worked, but these days, in the spectre of insane levels of hand wringing over local relations, etc, it's just easier for the decision makers to take a full Draconian approach and turn everything off for everyone and reinstitute slowly based on need. So, these two chuckleheads caused a problem and the reaction may be to "lock them all down" since there's a rack o' disciprine here.

On second thought, even if you tell them one of your young people is a screwup, the brass don't always pay attention. I know of a young woman who was reported and documented as a screwup on her first offense. The SNCOs did the counsel thing. The second time she screwed up was documented, and she was given further guidance and counseling. The third time she screwed up, everyone in the unit wants her out, because she is a major motard who is making them all look bad. After all the documentation and punishment is recorded, the brass in all their genius want to give her yet another chance to be a model troop and mend her ways. Then they go play golf or fly to Hawaii "on TDY" or whatever. I hear some places actually used to hang people or put them in the stocks in public squares in order to show that certain behaviour was not going to be tollerated. Seems to me that people screw up, it hits the news, then they disapear and nobody hears what they're going through, then people forget about them and the punishment. Maybe if there was more press on the after punishment side of things, it would remind people that people really do get in trouble for shit and it really does suck.
But maybe we just haven't given mass punishment enough time to work right. Next time it will work. Next time they will learn.

Dsagree. Its about the intent behind the wording of the headline.
There are plenty of headlines that read "local okinawan man..."
IE "Local Okinawan's angry about jet noise"
'Or Okinawan man kills mother over remote control"
The point made by this headline appears to be "Look Look, two Marines got into trouble in the same night".
The headline wasn't even about what they did, just the very fact that there were Marines doing wrong.
So do you really believe the intent of the headline wasn't a jab at the Marine population?

That's why you notice they will bitch about the Marines than it will stop and it goes up and down as needed.

*cue condescending, haughty tone of voice* Well, first off, RB, actually, water would not roll "down" a ducks back. The texture and pattern of the feathers would channel the water in sort of a diagonal runoff more front to rear than top to bottom. I studied duckiology in school thank you. I'd appreciate it you'd check your facts before posting.
* exasperated sigh* But I guess there you go AGAIN just making uniformed statements.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Well "water down a ducks back" is simply a figure of speech. Another example is "happier than a pig in shit" but pigs don't like shit. They actually shit in one place and roll in mud. They're clean animals when given a choice.

Nope. That's just basic biology. Pigs don't have sweat glands so rolloing in the mud keeps their body cool. Now rolling in shit wouldn't do that as shit is a waste product for one and would **** up their skin.

I used to go to collage all the time. Like in elementary school, where the teacher would make you clip out all those pictures and glue them to one piece of construction paper till you get one lumpy soggy piece of crap?

He's right though. Pigs don't have sweat glands and feces would cause infection in the skin. I grew up raising pigs.

Yup but RB is the boy that cried wolf at JU. I spewed a lot of BS so now when I do post facts they're not taken seriously because I ruined my image as a poster.

I don't think you've ruined your image. Just changed it. Instead of being a poster, now you're a poster child.

Don't have to worry about your image...just, when you post stuff from now on, make sure that you absolutely know what you're talking about before you post it, otherwise somebody is bound to call you out on it.
Same thing being in the Marine Corps. People can't tell me I'm wrong if I make statements that I know are right. Everybody makes mistakes, but don't get all defensive when you are caught wrong. Just move on.

Hey, normally true however there are a few exceptions in particular species.
During my time as a Marine, my buddies and I have spent many a weekend hunting down the "North American Slam Pig" and let me tell you, they most certainly have sweat glands.
The North American Slam Pig's sweat glands can be located in various areas, but the size, and amount often depend on the size of the beast. In this form of hunting, smaller is certainly better.
Sweat glands functioning in the hair, upper chest, and small of the back are considered fine, however the pits and crotch are considered to be serious faults.
In one strange example of cross species relation, the Slam Pig is actually confirmed to be a close relative to the more brash, fearsome and troublesome species, the Greater Western SwampDonkey. The western swampdonkey is know to lure prey by mashing its teats into a topcleavage formation attemtping to pose as a "hottie", the American male's preferred food source. The swamp donkey is known to hunt in packs and should be considered extremely dangerous.
not to be confused with the Southern Japanese Swamp Donkey, which can be spotted in urban nighttime areas, near military bases and G2 street. While of equal size and weight to the Greater Western version, The Japanese or Okinwan Swamp donkey can be differentiated by its orangey, faux blonde head fur, Porcine rounded and upturned snout, and noticeably irregular tusk formation.
