New to the island and none too impressed with Mediatti internet. Does anyone know a good cyber cafe that speaks english and caters to military personnel?

Most places that have インターネット in its business sign may be a コミック & インターネット カフェ. Cafe Cybex (http://www.japanupdate.com/?id=100) featured in a JU article also written by someone dk knows actually. If you are coming out of Camp Foster's commisary gate, turn right once you get to highway 58. Keep going straight and you'll see a big, blue Cybex sign on your left. Free parking is available.
Well, this is Japan so finding an internet cafe that speaks English and "caters" to military personnel may be difficult. If that's what you want, then you're best bet is to just stay on base and go to The Spot or something. That said, Cybex (next to Coco's on 58) is pretty good and is where I used to go before I got my fiber hooked up. You get a private booth with a PC (in Japanese of course, but still usable even if you don't know Japanese) and a TV (porn comes on after 11 :D). I'm not too sure about the staff's English speaking ability, but when I got my members card years ago, I brought my girlfriend (now wife) in with me to help translate (I think the paper that has their rates is in English though). If you want to go to an off base place, then at least learn how to say things like "1 hour" or "30 minutes" or something like that.

C-Street Cafe, located on Camp Shields, has wi-fi. :grin1:
Bring your laptop, sit on a comfy sofa, enjoy the quiet atmosphere.:smile4:
