Hi JU,

I've looked around a whole bunch of travel sites but I'm at a hold for info...

I'm in the hot part of the world, below europe and I'd like to take a trip in the near future to Miyako Island (where an Aunt is...)

I've got hits back for 33-43 hr trips and I think is because I don't know what route to take...

I've been told go to Mainland (narita-haneda) then take a flight to Oki then to Miyako. That end's up being 40+ hrs (no way) The pain is from at 2 layovers of 10+ hrs...I've even tried from manila, taipei, oki, miyako (30+hrs)

Does anyone know the best route from my side of the world to Oki/Miyako to take (Thistle?)

Thanks All

Could you be a little more specific about which country you are travelling from? or if you can't perhaps a few more hints, that would help ...:)

Miyako does not have an international airport so to get there you must route though Tokyo or Naha both of which route to Miyako. There may also be routes from Osaka or other major airports in Japan but nothing from outside Japan. There is no ferry service anymore from Naha either due to the ferry going bankrupt. Don't know where the other guy got info about a tsunami on Miyako but no such event happened a small typhoon that took a day to clean up from but nothing major.
To get to Miyako from outside Japan will take awhile depending on hooking up connecting flights but there is no secret route to there. Miyako I believe is only serviced by ANA and JAL/JTA so choices are limited.
