I am thinking of teaching conversational japanese a couple of evenings a week, just private lessons.
Thing is I have never tried teaching japanese (plenty of experience in teaching conversational english).

Before starting I was thinking I might ask here if there is anyone who would like a lesson or two for free, just for me to get into it. (kind of like, be guinea pigs). Have to be beginner or low-intermediate for now.

Also it would be after 7pm on Foster or that vicinity.

If there is anyone please pm me.

ok, well if no one wants free lessons, that's ok.

Going ahead with it anyway..

You should open a "Japanese Language Booth" on Gate 2 Street. That way, if I need to know how to say something, I could run over to your booth and ask you. I'll pay you in beer.

11pm - 8am really isnt the most active hours for JU, you might want to give it a day or two to give people a chance to respond... ;)

Are you a native Japanese speaker? That is one thing for me...I wouldnt want to learn from a non-native speaker; Either way, I'm a bit beyond the beginner level, but if you ever get up to more advanced, I am dying to get more training, but the college classes keep happening at distant bases/inconvenient time frames

No, not native. Been here 22 years though and speak it well enough to interpret general japanese. Nothing specialised though.

I agree with you though and thought most people will want to learn from a Japanese, but some of my friends said differently that is why i was going to give it a try.

I think if I were beginning out, I would have no problems...you are good in thinking of looking for people wanting to learn the basics/lower intermediate. Good luck!

It seems a few people want to learn, but are each at different levels or have different needs.

Beer is a learning aid. It will help us forget Macker is naked...

If you learn while drunk, you will only remember what you learned, when drunk.

Taking Japanese conversation classes online or offline is good way to learn Japanese. Plus make the best use of online resources like this:- LangLearner
I'm learning Languages with this tool it's very helpful and I hope it helps you.

Watching my classmates butcher basic phrases is hilarious, its what keeps me entertained from the boredom of basic japanese. (yo-row-she-koo-oh-nee-gai-she-mass-ooh) :D

GT what are translations for driving (hiragana, please):

"WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING!"

"BACK OFF OF ME!"

"WHERE DID YOU LEARN TO DRIVE?"

"WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING!"

"BACK OFF OF ME!"

"WHERE DID YOU LEARN TO DRIVE?"

I doubt you are going to be satisfied with the answer you are going to get. The nuance that you want to express along with what you are saying. There is a way to say these things but the meaning is going to be lost on the person you are saying it too. I would suggest not even bothering, because the looks you are going to get when you use it are only going to piss you off even more.

The best way to say any of these phrases is not to use Japanese but shuwa or sign language.

You can groan all the posts you want blue but it isnt going to change the fact that what you want to learn how to say is going to be a waste of time if you want to use it to insult or get someone to pay attention to their driving.

If you understand as much Japanese as you think you do, you would have or at least should have already known that.

There are a number of meaning for this one GT, one is ほっといてくれ, but in this case of being used when driving あとずさる is probably the closest.

But neither reflects the nuance of the phrase.
