Also a side note about kids. According to Dr. Phil which I think knows a lot more about mental health than either of us says that the last part of the human brain to develop is the (I forgot the name) which is the part that processes right and wrong and reasoning is not fully developed til your mid 20's.
Dr. Phil is an unlicensed quack. He's a TV personality and that's it. Banned from practicing medicine in the state of Texas IIRC because of his unorthodox therapy practices. I guess sleeping with the people you're providing therapy for will do that.

I edited my quote. Not only Dr. Phil but Dr. Lawless had some things to say as well. You quoted me before I could pull up the info.

Oh yeah, two bed buddies who share the same philosophy have to be right?
:edit: Also, way to get your info from a daytime television show.

Because P Chan knows more about psycology than Dr. Phil. Yup. I'll fly over and sit on your couch and tell you all my problems. You should test out and get licensed since your the expert.

No, but I think I know a bit more about psychology then you.
Well when earning your doctorte is one thing, but then you have to stay current on your certification. You know, so that you actually use what you were taught and don't go around giving out bad therapy session or sleep with your patients. Going to an uncertified doctor or worse yet, a doctor who had his certification REVOKED, is like trusting a hypnotist to cure your mental problems.
Trusting unlicensed tv show hosts who use unorthodox (like going into hospitals and forcing someone to partake in an intervention), ratings grabbing techniques might suffice for someone like yourself but not me. Go into an licensed psychologists office and ask them what they think of someone like "Dr" phil and see what they say.
:edit: Then there is the whole Doctor - Patient confidentiality thing.......don't think he has much regard for that now does he?
Three pages (or one for some) and I already feel like a broken record, have fun with your daytime tv doctors rb. But if I ever need REAL psychological help I'll be sure to go to a licensed professional.

His license wasn't revoked though he surrenedered his license in good standing. He didn'y renew it because he lives in Cali and it's a Teaxas license. He doesn't need a license since he's not in private practice anymore and does the show.
BUT he has said many times that the shows purpose is to bring mental health awareness to the public but the show is NOT to be a replacement for those who need care and should seek help from a license practicioner.

Page 23 guy, he never completed what the board requested so he is UNABLE to have a license and practice psychology. Good standing huh?

:edit: If shows like dr phil's are not meant to replace REAL therapy, why would you use anything from his show to back up your argument?

I would use what he says because he's still a respected psycologist.
I read the document you provided and it proves my point that his license the NOT in fact revoked.
Thank You

Respected by whom? Couch potatoes? Stop trying, it's not even funny anymore. Like I said, go to a REAL psychologist and ask them about dr phil.
Ok, if you're a psychologist and the psychologist board of the state you practice in REQUESTS that you undergo training or evaluations based on your conduct and you FAIL to adhere to those requests then you're licensed gets revoked and are not allowed to continue with your practice. Which is exactly what he did. Sure he throws out the whole "I gave up my license" cop out (which you can look at it that way) but seems like he just chose not to follow the orders he was given because he saw more money elsewhere. But yeah, he's a trustworthy respectable guy:rolleyes:
Damnit, **** this I'm going to bed.

He didn't need the license anymore. If he wanted it than I'm sure he would have followed the requests of the board.
But we'll trust Dr. P Chan instead because Dr. Phil is not even in his caliber.
Good night.

WTF is going on here? On one side is P_Chan who seems to think he is a psychiatrist and on the other is RB which we all know is certifiably insane!
Classic!
I agree though...Dr. Phil is a nutcase!

Never claimed to be a Doctor, stop trying to distract from the argument at hand by putting words in my mouth. However, I know several licensed psychologist, one is a family member, and they all say the exact same thing I am saying about Dr. Phil. If you want to follow some unlicensed quack with unorthodox techniques that are looked down on by real doctors then go head. But don't expect anyone to take you seriously when you try to use him as a source.
I know your dense but god damn!

This is funny. The only dense one in this thread is YOU. I NEVER put any words in your mouth. It's called sarcasm. Dr. P Chan.

Bless your pea pick'n hearts. Its so much fun to read the petty diatribe about Dr. Phil.

There is the real world, then there is the real world according to TV program producers. Would either of you watch Dr. Phil if his show was reality? PS - I do believe that people that appear on Dr. Phil are paid in one form or another to be there. For a few its because of their ego.
Wether Dr. Phil is currently licensed anywhere is mote - look at the millions of dollars he has made saving minds that are appearing on your TV set. If he were reading this thread his post would probably be "Eat your heart out guys."
Respectfully, Garry
RB called a truce so now its time to go on to bigger and better threads that appear on JU Forms (lmao).
