Yes. He did his time. He has the right to move on with his life.

Playing devils advocate here but why is animal fighting illegal anyway? If I buy dogs, or roosters etc. Don't I have the right to do what I want. I paid for them they are property. Technically speaking.

Vick IS back in Pro-Football....at least he's been reinstated. Just waiting to see which team pulls the trigger.

Someone will take him though...too much publicity out there for the NFL and whatever team takes him, big $$$ to be had by all.

If he is picked up, he will only be allowed to play the final 2 pre-season games, and by the 6th game of reg season, the commissioner will make a decision if he can stay.

Regardless, he will get bottom salary, no endorsements, and PETA has already said if he screws up just a little, they will boycott the team and stadium, something every owner does not want to happen, loss of revenue.

And he will not come in as a starter, probably 2nd or 3rd string. This is a sensitive issue with the majority of americans and many people's pets are like children too them, so other than being a pedophile, this could be the 2nd thing that ircs people.

All that needs to be heard is him bragging to his friends about killing dogs and he is finished in the NFL. Remorse was the key to all this, and if no remorse is shown, not only boycotts, but sponsors pulling out of the teams market.

Giants and Jets have already said no way. My vote..............

I still don't see any of this as a big deal. Let's see what's going on in the America. We have our troops risking their lives in a war based on lies and BS, we have a crappy economy, people killing eachother, housing crisis, healthcare in the shitter, crime crime and more crime, politicians that don't give a suit about the people, education system in the shitter, violence.

Dog fighting is on the bottom of by list of problems.

I understand peta is small potatoes, it's just the idea to owners that some org will protest if things are not to their liking that gets them nervous. And who's to say some sponsor, or his wife good god was a member of this org, and decided to pull out if some group put their name on a list of supporters of dog cruelty, that would get the ball rolling.

Hell other groups have had statements and boycotts that make owners jump. That's the nature of the beast in pro ball. It's all about the money.

Final note. He did his time, should get a chance, but i think the owners are seeing if this is a football choice or a circus choice meaning people (other than diehard football fans) will come to see him because of what happened, not because he is good.

OK so when do did we expect our professionals to be perfect? I thought that went out with Pete Rose, (who by the way they are talking about reinstating, lobbying the Hall of Famers again atleast. Which IMO should have happened along time ago!) I mean zzeesh standards now are different, like R rated movies, they used to be allot different. The public is more accepting of everything, we all have our faults. If they broadcasted all of our dark spots I just might be stoned.
The real question now will be is he any good still? Or after his 'fun' visit to lock up made him limp wristed?!

I agree. Messing with my dogs in a harmful way, even teasing them, would make me want to rain a painful hell upon whoever is responsible. My dogs are part of my family and you don't mess with my family.

As far as Vick goes, I think he paid for his crime. I don't like what he did and I think less of him as a person. As far as the NFL picking him back up... hm... well, I just think some of his pay needs to go in the humane society or a children's organization for however long he plays in the NFL for him to become a role model again.

Of course. I hope u catch that mofo too and beat the crap out of him. But my point is to YOU and to ME and many other dogs are part of the family.

But from a legal stand point they are property and as an owner a person has the right to do whatever they want imho whether I think it's sick and twisted or not.

not unheard of. I guess at my old place, the residents that lived near the local dog park were all pissy, becuase they didn't like th fact that there were always dogs around, or they complained that the dogs barked or whatever. SO, some of the little childish ****faces used to put rat poisoned food out on the trails near the park. I mean WTF?

You live near a city dog park, what did you expect? If you lived near the highway would you put out spike strips to fix those annoying cars? Or put poisin candy out for the annoying kids near the playground? Some people are just childish assclowns.

Except that these animals are living things, and the fact is, its not as simple as property. From a legal standpoint, the government has seen fit to pass laws on the issue already, laws he knew full well about. Dickhead broke the law, he paid his time. Done deal.

Should he be reinstated. Totally up to the league IMHO. The league needs to decide if they are cool with whatever stigma or PR issues he may bring with him. Now on that, they are willing to take back rapists, wife beaters and druggies, so I wouldnt expect them to ban him after this, but who knows.

Do I want to see the guy fail at life? No, really dont care. Do I have ANY sympathy for the dude? Hell no. its common sense. If you work in an industry supported solely by fan approval, dont do shit that pisses off the fans. DUH.

Richard Burns
07-30-2009, 02:10 PM
I know but don't these laws violate the rights of owners as sick as the acts may be.

0341isa
07-30-2009, 03:13 PM
Depends. Its no secret that many of the laws in a sense violate the idea of aboslute freedom to do what you want. Animal Cruelty is deemed morally unaaceptable by society. Should society impose its morals on us? who knows, but they do.

You can't abuse your dogs even though its "your dog" any more than I can walk down the street with my cock hanging out, even though its "my cock" or destroy my brain with coke eventhough its "my brain". Just how it is i guess.

I agree with you but from a PR stand point, it makes sense to donate a little bit of money to the humane society or St. Jude's if you prefer. Hell, he'll be able to afford it if he is reinstated. He did do his time and paid for his crime but often it goes beyond that. Ask anyone who has done any amount of time if the repercussions and stigmas stopped when they walked out a free man after the served their sentence. Either way, Vick has to deal with what he did and no one else.

08-01-2009, 04:34 AM
Yup. He should be able to play American Football again. I mean it is what he is somewhat good at, he sucks as an underground dog-fighter. If he wanted to screw with people, he should open up a pet store that specializes in dogs and dog grooming. To really mess people up, he should be an announcer at a dog show. That would be funny. Could you see Vick presenting an award to the dog owner for "Best in Show"?

Kiyashi40
08-01-2009, 07:56 AM
it's as simple as this if they let him play~ given the circumstances he will suspended the first 4 and then be aable to play again then I think they should pete rose back into baseball simply because yeah, the man bet his team but pales in comparison to Vicks' crimes or any other athlete that has messed up in years past. it's called forgiveness and Vick can't even get that much to whereas Pete might have shot at the HOF. What do you think. Should we forgive Micheal Vick for his actions? everyone makes mistakes even Pete Rose. I mean, fair is fair right? There are some players whose crimes are far worst than Pete Rose yet, the man doesn't have a chance in hell of being reinstated in the baseball league. You be the judge and jury on this one.

I don't see why he shouldn't be allowed to play. I understand what he did was wrong but the guys who play football that beat their wives get away scott free. I think beating women is worse than making dogs fight. Just my personal opinion though.
