Hello to everyone in Okinawa

I lived in Okinawa during the early to late eighties. Best times ever there. I went back like middle nineties and everything had changed. Everything looked different. :ohmy: This is the first time I ever looked up okinawa news and found here. brings back memories. i would love to go back just to see if the sea is as beautiful as it was back then.from an oldie. :old:

ahh!:w00t: i found the smilies! about the sea wall, we used to go there and play music and drink and , i tell you , it was soo crowded. alot of people ended up:barf:. is it still the same? i remember bunch of people, me included, spray painting the wall . stuff like that.:D we were not so addicted to computers back then:argh3:

I live in the sunabe area of chatan too. No, unfortunatly the sea wall is no longer like that.

I also lived in ginowan for a while, I like that a little better. I love that the ocean is so close but it's a bit too loud in my nieghborhood. I lived up on a mountain overlooking the expressway in ginowan, and it was suprisingly quite.

i lived up on a hill in urasoe. family owned the traditional hotel there. then i moved to ginowan right next to futenma but it was too far from foster gate. i forgot what that area was called. but it had crazy horse, whisky river and so on over there. i think they are all closed now. right below xenon was a big restaurant/bar/pool table area. the last time i was in okinawa, i stopped by the house i used to live in and i couldnt believe my kitchen/bath deco and carpet were still there.as you know the floors in sunabe houses are cement. well the last time i was there. i wish i could remember the number of the house. its a cement house with a huge yard and low cement wall surrounding it with a very old tree on the left. the cement fence has no gate.

The sea is still beautiful but there are a few more man made beaches here and there. I am not a diver, but there are often stories about coral bleaching around Okinawa, so perhaps that has affected the beauty underwater to a degree.

There used to be a small shot bar next door called Upstairs, do you remember that place?

I remember a place upstairs next door to xenons, but i cannot remember the name. Watched my first Madonna video there :old:. I know they had great long island ice teas. And the best mojos were in crazy horse. Night life was fantastic during those times:old: Anybody remember dancing in front of the mirrors in xenons by oneself? it was quite common.

I remember that taco place and the crazy horse! I'm not sure if I ever ate those tacos sober.....outside the kitamae gate at foster. My wife and I went to where the apple house and champ's used to be at, when we visited Oki last month. Boy, that was almost creepy, seeing them vacant. Especially when I have such vivid memories of hanging out there. Does anyone know when they closed up shop?

Pyramids is gone. Neo Manhattans is gone. I remember Apple House from back in the day, but haven't seen it since being back. My friends and I used to party mostly at Gate 2 and the seawall. I was last here in '93, came back in '03. The Chatan (American Village) area was the biggest surprise to me.

Dude, since like when they totally broke ground for the Koza Music center. Y'all should get out more. ;) They took out that whole little section there. It's mostly a Japanese people places to go party area now.

galina, you can keep one window/tab in the chat room while doing other stuff. leave your sound on to catch when someone else pops in. i do it when up late at night while my husband is working a night shift. sometimes tP and dk pop on. you can get a good conversation of nonsense then. ;)
