Having been away from the island for a while, I'm pleased to announce that we are back. And we love it.
Minor issues still have to be worked out, but for the most part everything is working out well. All of our old friends still recognize us (still not sure why), and we've been able to visit most of of our favorite places since we've come back.
This is my fourth time on the island, and this time, I ain't leaving.
Spelling aside, I've dreamed about living over here for the rest of my life.
It's good to be home.

One thing I don't get though....I thought all of the old farts retired in Florida? Instead you move from Florida to here! Did you get a waiver for that? lol

ha! i heard that florida was along the same latitude lines as okinawa. they were probably driving on the wrong side of the road and ended up on this of the world instead. ;)

Who's an old fart????!!!! :old:
Other than what most people have been imagining, we are actually here on purpose, no waivers required. I actually fell in love with this place in 1975, during my first visit. Thought that this would be a great place to retire at, and it is.
We've covered a lot of ground since we came back, but one major change that we've run across is, Kadena Circle. What a cluster f__k!!! Still, we have managed to make it to Yomitan this afternoon, where I finally got my yakisoba fix taken care of. While the place looks a little bit different from the outside, even some on the inside, The Royal Hotel still has the best tasting beef yakisoba on the island.
Since our transformer for the fridge came in this afternoon, we'll be hitting the commissary tomorrow. No more having to go out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day.
Now, if only our car dealer would call, to let us know that our new Rav4 is ready for pick up. Two weeks, for dealers prep??? sheesh!!!!!

Hey NBTP next time you're over near the Torii/ Yomitan area stop at the Izakaya called Ufugi うふぎacross from the Royal. Say hello to Sato san the taisho over there for me. I love that place and the staff is great. We all used to hang out and BBQ sometimes. I usually try to make it down to Yomitan as often as I can.

Wait until it is finished...it gets worse! I looked at the plans for that mess a few months back, and I just shook my head!

Yeah DK, he does sound like he is bucking for a ride in the old chipper.
Sorry to say, it's no longer available to me. My brother in-law sold it, to obtain funds for a business adventure he's currently engaged in. :cursing:
Then again, maybe we can figure out a place to meet where they don't offer any discounts. Dr.P, has already offered to pay the bill. Let's bust his wallet, and let him worry about how to explain that bill to his wife. :D

Well, I'm overdue for some king crab legs. Sam's by the Sea serves them up for Y4000 a dish I believe. Throw on Y700 for a margaritta and Y800 or so for some escargot and we're looking at DoctorP sleeping on the couch for a week! Let's do it!
