Does anyone have OCN fiber internet and have a wireless router hooked up? I bought a wireless router and put in in the place of the router they gave me, but it doesn't work. Was wondering if anyone has this same setup and if they hooked a wireless router up successfully?

I think we do. We have three boxes with blinking lights next to the desktop. I have a laptop with wireless capabilities. All three are hooked up to the desktop computer. My husband the techno-geek should be home within the hour. If there's more to it, I'll make him jump on here. :)

You still need the router the provider gave you, it will run into the wireless router. The broadband router they give you is registered so you cannot access the net if the main server cannot read the system ops. information for that router they designated to you.
Smart way of making it where you can't use the internet without only thier equipment.

Thanks for the help. I tried that last night right before I went to bed and it worked. Wished I would have checked back in this thread sooner.

what kind of wireless router is it? I have OCN fiber and I'm using a Buffalo wireless router so my wife can get access. Some wireless routers are pretty basic and come with an IP address already which may conflict with the IP range of the network your in. The way I have mine set up like this:
Fiber comes into the little conveter box(or whatever you want to call it)
that connects via cat 5 cable to the NTT router.(WAN slot)
from there I'm running 2 cat 5 cables, one to my desktop(LAN 1 slot on the NTT router) and the other(LAN 2) to my wireless router. (internet slot on wireless)
Now when I had set this up I noticed right away there was an IP conflict with the wireless and the network. The way to fix this was simple.
On the bottom of my wireless there is a router on/off switch(not power switch). I turned it off. Basically this made my router into more of a switch so to speak and did not use its original IP address therefore no conflict.
Hope this helps if you have anymore questions I could try to take some pics of the set up if that would help.
oops well I guess you got it to work so I'm a little late with the help:)
I'll leave the info in there incase anyone else might have the same problem

I have a belken router, and it works now
I have it setup like this:
fiber goes into light detector,
RJ45 cable from light detector to NTT router WAN slot
RJ45 cable from LAN slot 1 on NTT router into belken router WAN slot
RJ45 cable from NTT router LAN slot 2 into phone adapter
RJ45 cable from belken router LAN slot 1 into my computer's network card

Interesting. I wasn't aware that OCN had fiber.
Signed up with their fastest cable connection, can't get e-mail to work yet.
Never had a problem setting up any account in the states.
They gave us a paper with "LOGIN ID", and "Password". Followed all of their instructions, and no e-mail.
Most likely cause is a user stupidity error, on my part. Maybe Dr.P can help me out in a few days.

Hey DocP,
Yeah, I got it to work. Had to call OCN, and they walked me through the process. User stupidity error on my part. I forgot to go to their web page and put in our registration number, before their server would allow us to send e-mail.
I really should have known that. Duh!!!! \:-)

That can be said about a lot of users who come here and only post once they want to use the arcade.

Heh. Yes, but that guy is especially corrosive to the forums. Thankfully, dk has already seen to eliminating him as waste though.
