This thread is for any and everyone who is interested in learning Japanese without having to to spend money for a school or online program. The links included here are for the most part to sites that offer free information about learning Japanese.
I invite anyone here to post their favorite links if they have any, for other members to access and help to improve their Japanese language skills.
One thing that I ask is please check the current links before adding a new
one to avoid duplicate links.
Well here we go;
The following site is great for all levels of users.:D
A listing of free learning resources for the learners of the Japanese language. All are freely available on the web - no payments, no logins (with one exception which works with anonymous guest login), no subscription requirements.
Japanese Verbs (http://www.timwerx.net/language/jpverbs/index.htm#contents)
This is a great site for looking up and learning kanji and their meanings.
Kanji A Day (http://www.kanji-a-day.com/)
The following link is helpful for those interested in taking the JLPT, Japanese Language Proficiency Test.
Online Japanese Language Study Materials (http://www.manythings.org/japanese/)
Printable Hiragana/Katakana Flash Cards (http://www.unckel.de/kanacards/index-en.html)
Kana Teacher Online (http://www.unckel.de/kanateacher/index.html)
This link is an automatic translator for users of Mozilla Firefox
Automatic Translator (http://www.polarcloud.com/rikaichan/)
This link is for learning Kanji by grade level, 1st grade Elementary school to Junior High School.
Kanji Land (http://japanese.about.com/library/blkodarchives.htm)
This last link is to an online Dictionary, however this is not an ordinary dictionary, it translates English to Japanese and vice versa. This is an outstanding tool, you can copy and paste text into the proper location and it will translate very accurately not only individual kanji but pages of text as well. This site takes a bit of work to get used to using but it is extremely valuable and handy for translation and looking up words in the dictionary. It also is capable of finding words in the word search function that are written in romaji.
Jim Breen's WWWJDIC Japanese Dictionary Server (http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/wwwjdic.html)
Please remember, it isnt necessary to pay a ton of money to learn Japanese, there are tons of links available on the internet that can get you started not only in the right direction, but can help you truly learn and maybe master Japanese. All it takes is the motivation to start.
If anyone wants or needs more sites, I have many more available, please feel free to drop a comment or request here and I will gladly add more.:D
The below links are being added by DocP as a way to keep all learning links here in the original post. Any links added in this thread will be moved to this post.
