And why is that?
Pussyfest, huh? Somehow I can see this turning into a sausagefest instead...

I was thinking the same thing...if I was a chick, the last place I'd be spending a saturday night is at an event called "Pussyfest".

I don't control the name of the event... I just help promote it :D
You may want to reconsider whoever it is that came up with the name. :p

The person who named the event needs to be given another job. No self-respecting female would go to... oh wait... nevermind. You want that kind of female there.
Gotcha. ;) http://forums.lfgcomic.com/style_avatars/LFG_Avatars/richard10.gif
I hope it's a great party with much profit and that other p-thingy. heh.
I just think it's going to be a little embarrassing if/when the party turns out to be a huge sausagefest. The dumb guys who actually thought women would show up to this are going to be cranky as hell. It would have been better to just throw an image of a hot chick having fun on the front of the flyer and then give it the party a decent name. That's a time-tested tactic. It always works, and it doesn't scare off all the women.
Another tactic I've found to actually work is to NOT differentiate price between guys and girls. Make it Y1500 or Y2000 across the board and make it worth it. You'll scare off the low quality dudes that think that Y2000 is too much to pay for a cover charge and you'll end up with a more female-friendly event, which in turn is a better event.
Yes, I've got a bit of experience in making parties successful.

I will say this. If the person I think nemaed this party is the one in fact throwing the party than it's gonna be a HUGE hit as always at the Penthouse and the name really don't matter cuz the Penthouse has a loyal following.

What percent dudes? Be honest. It's a shitty name for making an even larger following. And how large of a following are you talking? Like do you expect fifty people to be dancing their asses off at a given time? One hundred? Two hundred? Or is this a sit-down place where it's more about just showing up and drinking? An event for me where a DJ is involved needs to have a lively dancefloor. Without that, it's a dud.
And I'm not trying to bash on this place or Takeo or anything. I'm talking in general.

My wife and her girlfriends are going to be passing out flyers in Mihama and Naha over the next couple days. Mostly to Japanese females.... there are unwritten incentives for them to show up. Someone (an American female) said that she hoped that there was a decent turnout of guys and I told her with that name how couldn't there be. I have someone that will probably be working the door to ensure a good ratio.
I'll be there with low expectations (maybe... it's Saturday, right?). I am looking forward to being impressed. :D

Either way bro, I appreciate the support. You, of all people, understand what I'm trying to do. Win a few and lose a few but hopefully come out ahead in the long run. Mistakes will be made along the way, but then again this is Okinawa --- the place of forgotten morals.

We used to call it little Ibiza. It could have been so much better if people hadn't given up. I still haven't completely given up. Perhaps you can help me start GrooveSeeker again. :thumbup1:

Actually, I don't think the name "pussyfest" will scare off any local females. Now if you called it "Homeyfest" or "Mankofest," then I think you'd have a problem. Pussyfest should attract all the same quality girls that have been run through pretty hard at Club Red. I bet their mommas are proud of them.
This is a place where marijuana is highly illegal, yet half the island has marijuana leaf air fresheners hanging from their rear view mirrors. When I ask Japanese people what it is, most don't know it's even marijuana. I see old ladies wearing shirts all the time that say "cannabis" and "marijuana," they just don't have a clue! Even young kids wear these shirts. Too funny. The point being you could call it just about anything...advertise it the right way...build it--they will come.
There's the Pussy Cat Dolls and Josie and the Pussy Cats...don't see anything wrong with "Pussyfest 2009."
All the best.

The wife and her friends handed out at least 50 flyers last night and once the ladies (both American and Japanese) saw that they woud be drinking free they didn't care about the name of the event.

Hey, more patronage is a good thing for you. :thumbup1: Free booze is always a party plus for those who like that sort of thing. Stock up on the toilet paper in the ladies restroom!

Regardless if the ladies are free, hennessee and crown are expensive, and only 3000 for a full 3 hours, they are really lose some money if alot of dudes show up.
Unless the party folks buy on base, i'm sure NIS will have a few gophers in the pie to see if they have japanese tax stickers on the bottles.:D That's a quick way to lose a license, and most likely it's a wife or girlfriend the joints name is under with the liquor license. Been there, done that.

Tonight's the night folks. Some of you are still PM'ing me that you still aren't sure where it is. If you decide to drive and not take a taxi (not recommended since it's an all you can drink dealio) here are the directions:
The Penthouse is located on the 7th floor of the Sky Anzel building on Route 81, just south of Camp Foster. If traveling South on Highway 58, make the first left after the Camp Foster fence line ends. Continue on Route 81 until you see the San A on the right hand side of the road. The Sky Anzel building is on the next block. If you hit the intersection with the pedestrian overpass you have gone too far. A pay parking lot can be found directly behind the San A as well as across the street from the Futenma High School on Highway 330.

In what genre, and what local DJs are you even familiar with to make such a comparison? How many local Naha clubs do you frequent, and name and differentiate between two of the DJ's that founded Hard Edge or Infinity. Thank you.
Not knocking on Takeo, just wow...
So what was the guy/girl ratio last night? And the turnout, even more importantly? I don't have a kitchen pass until 5/29. Looking forward to the 2-year at Penthouse. :)
Party highlights? Did any (chicks) lose their shirts? :D

OPM and Tenpennies: I appreciate the support that both of you have been throwing my way since I got back into the scene. Ya'll are down for life.
Richard Burns: We definately have some business to talk in the near future.
To everyone else who couldn't attend you missed a hell of a time. Like all clubs/parties in Okinawa it started out slow but around 11 PM it kicked up significantly. I think our "single snapshot in time" (ake the moment my buddy counted) for the female count was 15 and that was around 1 am. Others were coming and going throughout the night. The impressive thing (as opposed to Club Red) is that the number didn't include the staff (people don't realize that the majority of the girls there are the waitresses). From what I saw the majority of the girls that showed up either ended up leaving with someone or left adding numbers into their phone. I think the total count for the evening was 70 something.
Thanks. 70 is respectable. :)

Give RB a break. He was quite blitzed last night and I think he just appreciated the fact that I don't play any Soulja Boy or any of that other "crap" they try to pass of as hip hop nowadays. I will never compare myself to any of these other established DJs without hearing them in their realm.
Oh, it's ok. I would have had no problem if he came on here blitzed saying ZOMG TAKEO IS ONE BADASS MOTHER******* DJ!!! But he threw out the B word. It's ok, though.

okay I will reclarify than Takeo is one bad ass mother******* DJ. But so far he is one of my personaly favs. C-Smooth is another good one out here.
Good. Thank you for the clarification. Hinotama Hall has always had some bad ass mother ******* DJs. You may want to check them out sometime. I'd like to hit that place up more often but it is now a Y3000 one-way taxi trip for me... I'd be worth it if I had more play money, but at the moment money is tight. But it should be around Y1800 for you one-way! :D

I can do the math, but that's still going to be about Y5,000 just to step foot into the club. Then drinks. And a lot more hassle than just staying within a comfortable, stager-homeable distance from my house.
