View Full Version : Nrrd Seeking Mind-mate

I just posted this on CL, but I thought I'd give it a go here, too:

In the past few months, I went from social San Diegan butterfly to absolutely lost in translation. It may just be me, but it seems hard to connect here. And I need some connection.

What I love: Nrrd stuff – books, art, linguistics, the internet. Hippie stuff – hiking, diving, small furry things. Punky stuff – loud music, leftist politics, staying up til sunrise plotting the revolution. Or just singing karaoke.

I’m hella smart, witty, loving, discerning, and generally the life of the party. It’s what I get paid for now, but I’d like to go cause some trouble with some awesome someone for free.

I’m not looking to hook up, but rather to find someone, male, female, military, civilian, who can write well enough to get me excited about meeting them for a coffee…or a drink. I know the perfect dive.

P.S. Anyone going to Okinapa on Friday?

Okinapa is the wine-tasting thing going on this weekend. I got a little buzzed when I was out with some co-workers on Saturday and thought it was a good idea to buy a singular ticket.

Now I'm wondering if I'm really that brave.

But probably the wine will help :)

I thought you weren't supposed to drink the wine at a wine tasting thing?

I really wish I could make it to one of these wine tasting things. I can't even remember the last time I was on base though, and I prefer to keep it that way, but this does sound fun... I wonder if the Okinawans ever have wine tasting events...

Sorry Punky Brew, my wife would kill me too:dead:. Without a doubt one of the more intriging posts that I have ever read on this board, perfect with just the right amount of titilation. :D

Edited for the sake of keeping things peaceful!:D

Every year when the Beaujolais Nuevo wine gets delievered from France in a special 747 Jumbo,:)

I am a bit surprised that you didnt know about this one considering where or who you work for as in being a newspaper. It is often, mostly?, always?, sponsored by Suntory and Mercian Wines.

Maybe you guys dont mingle with these kinds of people, more of a beer crowd right?:D

Okinapa happens both in the spring and the fall. I think the last one was in April. If you check out any of the MCCS publications or mccsokinawa.com they advertise the heck out of it every time it comes around, even though tickets sell out w/i days.

So...I guess I'll keep my eye out for someone in the "actual pants" ;)

I don't see why not, dk. I've seen the personals section of JU classifieds. It's nearly non-existant. This might be a nice alternative for some. They can also track the other person's posts in threads to see if they have similar opinions on things, which is more than "hey baby, you look hot." If someone isn't into someone who keeps bugging them, there's always the ignore list and you boot to the heads. ;) Oh, come on, dk, it's just an extra thread header thingy. Heh.
