Alright not sure if this is the right place for this thread but I trust the Mods will move it if need be.

What brought this on was an old urban legend got brought up tomight. Funny because its an urban legend from America and my wife(Japanese) brought it up. We had KFC tonight and later my wife was talking about KFC chickens having 4 legs. I guess that's the version of the legend she heard. I remember the one about how they changed their name, chickens with 4 wings etc. Urban legends are a great read but sometimes they can be used to push an agenda in the hands of someone stupid. Like a couple of idiots I found on this Vegan site. One posted a thread about it KFC thread (http://www.veganrepresent.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9463)

God I hope know body out there still really believes KFC who is renowned for their genetic engineering prowess is actually making mutant chickens:rolleyes: If so direct them to this Fried and True (http://www.snopes.com/lost/kfc.htm)

Feel free to use this thread to discuss this urban legend or to post about :thumbup:another.

Sorry, I really have nothing to add at this time, but that's hillarious. :D

But really, that Snopes read on the information about products with the word "Kentucky" in it changing their names to avoid royalty fees to the state of Kentucky is quite interesting. I really wasn't aware of the reason for the change, and to be quite honest, hadn't even noticed all those changes.

Very interesting.

Until I read the article I was unaware of the specific reason as well. I remember hearing about it having something to do with using "Kentucky" but that's about it. Good read.

I didn't realize they're not "Kentucky Fried Chicken" anymore... Man, that's lame if they changed their name for that reason...

Yeah, I thought people just shortened it themselves. Thought the KFC lettering on the buckets were just that way for design. Japanese usually call it plain ol' Kentucky.

Also was surprised to hear that the Kentucky Derby was changed to The Run of the Roses. I mean, I knew of The Run of the Roses, but didn't know they were one and the same, or that the Kentucky Derby had ceased to be.

And Kentucky Blue Grass. Again, surprised to hear that changed to Shenandoah grass.

Maybe the state of Kentucky is really making mutant chickens and KFC didn't want to be a part of it. Guilty by association:)

Why don't we just completely wipe Kentucky off the map?! Or call it something else?!
