Discuss weekly matchups, results, etc...here!

Who do you guys/gals think will make an impact as a rookie this year?

I think Jacoby Jones of the Texans will be BIG at WR. He has Shaub to get the ball to him, and he was looking good in the preseason!

Totally agree with you there, I've totally lost all urge to follow my favorite teams while I'm here. I think the cubs are number one in their division, but I didn't know that until about two weeks ago.

Ask and ye shall receive...

I hope that Green Bay's "running back by committee" situation works out in what could very well be Brett Favre's last go-round. The Packer D will keep them in most games this year.

Super Bowl pick: New Orleans Saints vs. San Dieg.....no, New Engl...wait, San D, damn....one of those two. I'll go ahead and say the Patriots, only because they always seem to be in the thick of things in the AFC, and I'm not sure SD's new coaching staff can get them there in the first year.

Super Bowl champs: Saints

NO should be there again this year...Chicago will falter because of the QB. SD can't get there...the new coach is gonna throw things off. Indy can't repeat, I believe NE will make it. Coach is too good, Brady is a GOD, and too many good supporting players.

I have been a cheesehead since before it was fashionable to say so. I love my Packers but just dont see how they could do better than 8-8 or 9-7 at best.

If they do better and make the playoffs I will truly be surprised and happy as a pig in shit.

Bears look good for the Central but I wonder if this year Detroit might be able to pull something out of it's ass. They have some of the best receivers in football. Now they just need a decent QB.

Side note; I wonder how Joey Harrington is going to do in Atlanta as well. Fresh start, little or no expectations, no pressure to perform. Atlanta could make noise I think, maybe not enough to matter but on any given Sunday, ya never know.

Indy has to be the "popular" pick, along with NE.

I agree about NO and SD.

How about college football?

Any Michigan fans out there:eek::eek::D:D Way to go last Saturday, who would have thought, tanking their season on the very first game against Appalachian State? :thumbup::thumbup: Way to go!

I am also a Badger Fan, love Camp Randall on a Sat in November, particulary the 5th quarter and partying on State Street in Mad Town.

Bucky Badgers 1-0. I think they may be in the hunt this year.

Tampa's defense is looking pretty strong too, but home field is big. Heck imo that is one of the reasons GB beat SanDiego.

Tough call to make.

I think the Saints have the best chance to turn it around...but they are in a funk right now. Lienert will start again this week...they were talking about doing a rotation thing with the two of them. Warner is not healthy enough to play every week, but he could come in for a few series to spread the field a bit.

Right now they dont seem to be playing well together, whether or not they have McCallister in the lineup or not they have the pieces to be a good team, right now however I dont seem them having any confidence in themselves and that is a problem.

If they lose this week, all bets are off, tank the season comes to mind.

Now that Farve has the record for most TD's the discussion going around today is "Who is the best QB to play the game?"

I would put Farve in the top five and in no particular order along with Montana, Marino, Aikman and Elway.

At the top of my list for QB's that never won the superbowl is Marino. COuld you imagine the number of superbowls he may have won with a defense like the Dallas teams had when Aikman was QB?

In the end however barring injury to either of them Brady and Manning will have to be given consideration as well. However this is also all tempered by the fact that it appears to me at least that the basis being used to judge greatness is pretty much what accomplishments that have managed in this era of pass happy football.

QB's like Staubach, Bradshaw, and Starr should in my opinion be given consideration for leading their teams to glory as well from a different era of football.

Sure the passing game has made it more exciting but I dont think that should take anything away from these guys either, they ran their teams extremely well too, particularly in their era.

Any comments? Who would your choice be for best QB of all time?

Did today prove that Houstons problems last year was Carr and not the O-line? I realize that Houston lost, but Shaub played a nice game. Then look at Carr. Best receiver in the game, and he can't get the ball to him! Carr holds the ball too long, that is why he was getting killed in Houston!

Best QB of all time? I think Marino was the best pure passer ever! I think Brady will go down as one of the top 5 if he continues to play 7 or 8 more seasons. (the guy is Mr Cool). If Peyton wins another SB, then he is in my top 5. But I have to rank

Young, Montana, Aikman all had too many weapons...that made them better than they really were. With that said I would have Elway as #1 and Farve as #2 with Marino as #3. Elway was a master at managing a game and keeping his team in the mix.

I think Smith is the best in the game right now. Did you see his touchdown last week? I know Moss, Owens, Boldwin, Ward, and about 15 others are really good...and Owens and Smith might be equal, but if the ball is even close, Smith makes people pay.

What are your thoughts on the Raiders? Do they have a chance at the postseason with the way things look in the AFC west?

They are 2-2 now

Let's see...here is the rest of their schedule:

@San Diego = win
KC = win
@ Tennesee = lose
Houston = lose
Chicago = lose
@ Minnesota = win
@ KC = win
Denver = win
@ GB = lose
Indy = lose
@ Jacksonville = win
San Diego = lose

I see them being 8-8 when all is said and done. Much better than last season!

With that said, I still see them winning their division, because all of the teams in there suck this year (unless SD wakes up!). That puts them into the playoffs. If Daunte stays healthy and LaMont Jordan comes back strong...they could win the first game, but I don't see them making a SB or anything.

Always was a New Jersey Giants fan. From way back when LT, Phil Simms and Otis Anderson were on in the marsh.

But Vince Young and the Titans. I still remember the Longhorns in that Rose Bowl last year. This kid knows how to win.

Tom Brady and the Patriots. Bill Belichick btw was the Tunas offensive coord with the Giants then.

But now in Okinawa, those are distant interests, except come Dec and the playoffs, I guess.

I watched the "boys" play and damn they were lucky! Romo with 5 picks (should've been 6), TO dropping passes, just a sloppy, sloppy game.

One note about Farve and their loss...The coach changed his play calling in the second half...that is what cost them. Then they lost their starting center. If you watched the final drive closely, many thought that they mismanaged the clock...not so, Farve was signalling for the snap, and the center wasn't looking. Farve had to signal 2-3 times each time to get the snap...not completely his fault for that!

correct. I think that miami could've won but the coach decided to go on it and paid even worse if it would've been blocked.

My all time favorite play of last nights game was the last play.....freakin hilarious! I was just shocked and amazed to see such a ridiculous play carried out on an NFL field....and then they ended the play losing yardage they had already picked up.

Hence why Miami shouldn't get to play on Monday nights ;)

Heck Miami used to be prime time. Even last year they beat the undefeated Bears on Monday night.

This year WTF. I miss Marino that guy was fing awesome. Does anybody remember how fast that guy was?

So Vick got 23 months and he will probably be out in the summer of 2009. Man I cant wait to see him back in action. I wonder who he will play for.

And in related news.

Bobby Petrino abruptly resigned Tuesday as Atlanta Falcons coach after 13 games, and multiple sources told ESPN he is negotiating an agreement to become the new coach at Arkansas.

Petrino and his agent had been talking with the Falcons about his preference to return to the college ranks. He had only left Louisville in January, agreeing to a five-year, $24 million contract to coach the Falcons.

haha! Okay Fonze, now I will change back. I absolutely hate watching sports on TV. I always have. All my friends are really into ball sports though. When they start talking about it, I just tune it out.

Do you guys think the Dolphins were right to fire Cam Cameron? I mean he was pretty much handed crap to work with right? Add to that the injuries they had and what did they expect?

Also, the 49'ers decided to keep Nolan another year...and to bring Martz over from Detroit as OC...I think that was a good move for this team.
