What do believe came first.
Or do you believe the chicken evolved.

I say the chicken (as we know it) came first. If you believe in creation, then God might've put a chicken and rooster in adult form on Earth at the get go with the instinctual knowledge required to make eggs and more chicken things. If you believe in evolution, then the chicken really did come from the sea, and Jessica Simpson isn't as dumb as she seems. ha! as if... :D

Scientists have already found the answer. There is no mystery. It is known.

The egg came first.
Case closed.

No it didn't...the chicken evolved from another creature, therefore the modern chicken as we now know it came first. Now if you are referring to eggs in general, then you would be correct, but we wouldn't be discussing a chicken egg then would we?

Well, let's go to some up to date research on the matter from genetic experts:
Now a team made up of a geneticist, philosopher and chicken farmer claim to have found an answer. It was the egg.
Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life.
Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg. -- Source (http://edition.cnn.com/2006/TECH/science/05/26/chicken.egg/)
From Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_and_egg) cited from The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin:
Therefore, a non-chicken did, in fact, lay the first egg.[13] ...
Essentially, all organisms began evolution as microscopic egg-shaped creatures whose descendants evolved into multitudes of complex species. Therefore the short answer is the egg came before everybody, generating eggs and sperm who combined and evolved with each generation into a more complex creature.
IN the end, however, due to evolution, the question itself is a flawed one.
The nature of species classification is inherently macroscopic in time and is not compatible with the distinction between an organism and its offspring. The question of which came first, the chicken or the egg, is ill defined, with no logical answer.

Science is not fact. Not tosay science hasn't made discoveries, but science evolves. Look at scientist that said the next ice age is upon us in the 70's.

Science never works on the premis that there is a final answer. It has the built in mechanism for correction. Hypothesis are made, and if those hypothesis hold up under further examination and research, they become theory. Theory is then accepted as fact or true UNTIL some other evidence comes along that requires the theory to either be revised or scrapped.
As of now, science has pretty much been showing that the egg has come before the chicken. More for you to consider:
Chickens evolved from non-chickens (http://science.howstuffworks.com/question85.htm) through small changes caused by the mixing of male and female DNA or by mutations to the DNA that produced the zygote. These changes and mutations only have an effect at the point where a new zygote is created. That is, two non-chickens mated and the DNA in their new zygote contained the mutation(s) that produced the first true chicken. That one zygote cell divided to produce the first true chicken. ...
So, the egg must have come first.
Fonze, I mean you were looking for an answer to your question, weren't you? Or were you just putting it up there thinking you were being clever with a little mind ph**k game that no one would be able to proffer an answer to that would make sense? You tell us.

No...the chicken came first! That is how the egg was made, and why the hen was angry!

It depends on the situation
Sometimes it's like this:
Egg------>omlette
Other times it's like this
Egg------>Chicken------>KFC

How about sea chicken? I think that is tuna, right? What came before the sea chicken? -----> sea chickenn salad.
Sorry. I know. It is lame.
lol... how would sea chicken salad come before the actual sea chicken?!

I dunno. It is a mystery we need to solve.
Cute baby.
