If everything existed in a vacuum separate from each other, which modern convenience do you appreciate most, or would choose from all the others to keep as the one you would not want to live without?

Examples... automobiles, plumbing, home electricity, TV, internet etc...

For me, I would want to keep modern dentistry. Eventhough I may only use it seldom, when I do, I appreciate immensely that it is no where near like the dentistry of the 19th or 18th century. I wouldn't mind a more slow life that there would be without all the other trappings of modern civilization e.g. cars, telephones, etc...

But I would mind dearly if modern dentistry were no more.

Would modern dentistry exist without electricity and modern medicine?

Its a tough choice though. Hard to single one out that can stand alone without some of the other modern conveniences. This one has me scratching my head... good question.

That is why I worded it as "in a vacuum" so that we can dispense with all the inter-connectivity of each thing in choosing a preference.

Ah in that case I would want the internet so I can order all the other modern conveniences online:) or maybe that would be cheating

LOL. Yes, Doug. That would be cheating. Like using your last wish to wish for 3 more.

How about internet simply for porn viewing?

That would work for me. Would beer be a modern convenience? Cause it sure would be nice to have around too.:)

Man, there's nothing modern about beer!

Mine would be the internet for easy access to all kind of answers to satisfy my infinite curiousity. :p

You could just ask me, dk. I know everything.

Or at least some members think that I think I know everything. Is that good enough?

I'll take plumbing...all else I could do without.

I'd take a monkey over him...or Michael Vick, I hear he has some free time now too, so I'm sure he could do my research!

I could do your research! How much are you paying?!

Not enough! Monkey's work cheap, and Vick has a lot of time! :w00t:

Are you inferring that Vick is a monkey?

DoctorP

No, not by any means. I said I would rather use a monkey (smarter than you and less bs) or Vick...because he has free time on his hands.

What do you consider modern? Industrial age conveniences? I would assume that is what you mean, but just checking...

Although a monkey would rock, and vick would be nice to make him fight other football players to death in a pit, I would have to choose a gas stove. I cant imagine how crappy it must have been to cook with a damn wooden stove!

I dunno, DrP, looking at this:
Monkey's work cheap, and Vick has a lot of time!

It sounds like the second subject is a subset of the first subject. Here:

Marines get into a lot of fights, and Ken spent a lot of time in Jail while being in Okinawa.

But anyways... Back on topic.

Hmmm well what I want isn't modern at all.

I want breathable air, because vacuums tend to not have any:D

LOL:thumbup: X2

A modern convienence hmm good one, I'd say electricity. nothing would operate or be able to build without it. porn couldn't be recorded without electricity, computers wouldn't work, nothing could be accomplished without it.

Is canned food technology one cause I wouldn't want to go out for food everyday of the year. It would be nice to just pop open some chili or soup.

HA! :D Y'all are funny... sometimes. Aside from the air thing, which is good, I'd have to go with the modern dental tools and technology to make the drugs that make it not hurt. I am all about drugs that make things not hurt. :-|

Reviving an old thread...I've decided that I absolutely couldn't live without TP...no way I could wipe my ass with leaves or anything but TP. TP is best for wiping my butt!

TP for the win!

(TP...this post was purely made in jest...trying to get the thread going again!)
