Which photos do you think are the most memorable in history or pop culture?
I will begin.
I think two of the most known come from WW2:

The atomic bombing of Nagasaki and(or) Hiroshima

My mother used to have a book titled "The Best of Life Magazine" which contained a lot of photos from the history of that publication. (Edit) On line now apparently. Some of the photos above where in it, but I particularily remember a photo of Rocky Marciano's fist crushing someone's face. I suppose it wasn't iconic in any way, although I doubt Ali had the power to generate 1600 pounds of force in a punch 6 inches away.

Here is the photo of the Viet execution in the street.

Maybe not the most iconic photos from that event but they are memorable none the less.

Now see why couldn't someone do that instead of burning the flag

You know the man in that photo finally came forward last month. He's still alive & they have proved him to be the real deal. Can you imagine seeing a certain picture of yourself on TV, magazines & newspapers for decades & not saying anything?
