Iphone?

Hello everyone! I am new here and have orders to Kadena for September of this year. I am about to get an Iphone from my mom and was just curious if it will work with the carrier on Okinawa by doing a SIM card swap or by "unlocking" the iphone. I am sure someone in here has knowledge of this possibly. Thanks for any info...:D
