Hi,
Our family was on Okinawa from 1969-1970. My husband was a flight line engine mechanic. I have some pictures I will be posting of our stay there.
I do have one question. When we were there, there was a song about a G.I. that fell in love with a bar girl in Naminue (spelling?) I thought it was called I'm going back to Naminue. Does anyone remember this song?

I forgot to say welcome to Japan Update. I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures.
I was Army on Okinawa 1968 - 1969. I had the time of my life and hated to leave.

Hi,
Sorry, it has taken me awhile to you. I just noticed your reply. I'm a little timid in something new to me, but I will catch on.
I really like this forum. I have looked at most of the pictures on it and they are really nice. Wish I would have taken more.
I have a box of stuff that I have been going through to try and put into a scrapbook. We were sationed in Okinawa, Montana, California, Illinois, Michigan, and Upper Heyford, England.
Okinawa was my favorite. It sure didn't help that when we left Okinawa we went to Kincheloe AFB in Upper Michigan. The climate change about did me in. : ) Sadly, we have not stayed in touch with anyone from Okinawa.
I am retired now and my husband is semi-retired, so I have time to get this all done.
Thanks for the song. It is the one, but was one with words to it.
Have you heard of that one?
Thanks for all your help
Carol

I think we were all guilty of not taking enough pictures. I know I have kicked myself for not taking more pictures.
After a while you will find this forum to be rather addicting in a nice way.
I'm sorry I haven't heard the song you are looking for.

Hawk,
It is me. Glad to see you made over. Now you know where I am when I'm not at the Firing Line.
