I took the patriot flight from KAB to Yakota in June of last year. I used my EML leave so I was in category 2 and would have had no problem making it all the way to SEA.

Be forewarned that PCS'ing season is at hand. We were planning on taking the Pat. Express but decided against it. Instead we plan on taking a hop from Kadena to Travis AFB (San Fransisco) and staying a few days with my husbands cousin. When we would foot the bill for domestic to Detroit. All commercial flights are hugely expensive in the month of May (when we plan on leaving) and it would have cost us $5,500 for 2 adults and 1 infant. We might end up buying 1-ways back to Oki though.

The Travis AFB to Kadena is a regular hop now FYI. I can get you numbers if you'd like.

Thanks for the reply. I am retired US Army and I flew from LA to KAB a few years ago. I need a space-a seat. Now the planes are smaller and have less seats available.

Thanks for the info. Do you purchase your air line tickets on line? I do and find them cheaper.

Yeah but with cat 2 there is a 99.9% chance you'll get on the plane.

Retirees are Cat 2?

"Retirees" are "GUS" status. "GUS" = "GUM UNDER SHOE".

With everything that the new kids are doing these days, I have no problem with that. A "Hop" would be nice, but we always make sure that we have enough money to make a round trip "out-of-pocket".

Presents can usually wait until we return home, but we don't do those anymore.

Oops, forgot he was a retiree. You'll get cat 2 if your active duty and you have your EML paperwork signed by your shirt.

I was going to say, retirees are like Cat 5/6 since I was Cat 3/4 when I had EML papers to go home in August of 2007. I ended up getting a one way back to Oki from Detroit since I wasn't going to stay in Seattle trying and hoping to get on the Pat. Express.

3 on EML? Hmmmmm maybe since you traveled by yourself. But my wife and I were both CAT 2 when I went in June of 07. If I didn't have EML I would have been CAT 3.

Yes, since I traveled alone, that is why I was bumped down to Cat 3 even though I had a letter from the Red Cross. It worked out but I didn't get home in time.

Not sure, but if you call the AMC terminal on kadena then they'll let you know.
