About 10 years doing 5 year old birthday parties, retirement parties etc is a start. Or u can cut your teeth with mccs for 10 bucks an hour. They are always looking for barrack dj's.

1st thing is ...........history. study your music, 40 years back is a good start and work your way up. Know all styles of music regardless if you like it or not. If you stick to one style of music..you won't work very much.

And Okinawa is a very small market. Too many fish in a small pond. I'd just study as much as possible, buy gear that is worth a shit from the start and wait till you get back to the states. Unless u have at least 5 years more on the rock, you won't get much work. Knowing people and having a rep is more important than how good you are. It's all about marketing. Who's butt are ya willing to scratch?

2nd thing is go out and watch dj's work. At first copy someone's style and then slowly develop your own style. Most likely, by the time u get back to the states, music will evolve into some other style for the young people. It does about every 5 years.

Trust me, I've been doing it now for 12 years on oki. pm me if u have more questions.
