Yesterday after I got home, around 5.30pm I heard the dog barking and for
once decided to look outside. I was glad I did, when I noticed 4 american youths(around 18 I guess), hanging around my neighbour's garden. Area was pretty quiet because everyone was out and about for O-bon and I imagine that they knew that.
I asked them what they thought they were doing, to which one replied that
he had dropped his earing and was looking for it. I told him he could stop right now because he had no business being in someone's private property.
Unbelievably he said, 'I didn't know people lived around here.'
They soon ran off down the road, I suspect they were planning to break into the house, first time I have seen it firsthand here in Okinawa.
When I told my neighbour she said, a lot of people know houses are empty during O-bon and may try to break in during that time.
