cheap beer

saw on cnn...that lower quality beers were selling good in japan...was due to some sort of taxation rule.....anybody try drinking this beer...the cans looked good...but is the beer good to drink?

It's the alcohol tax. Beer is taxed by how much malt is used...over 66% is taxed at the full "beer" rate, between one third and two thirds at a lower rate, and under 25% the lowest rate.
