Hi all, good morning.
Haven't been posting for a long time.
Please tell me, if you know, where Maltese chocolate (those yummy chocolate balls in a red package) can be found in Okinawa?
I have several Japanese colleagues who are crazy about these
chocolates which are no longer sold at convenience stores or
supermarkets.
Would love to go to AAFES just once to take a look but am not military
personnel .... ^-^ please help us in our search for MALTESE!

I'll keep this in the back of my mind when grocery shopping. :D I loved these things when I was a kid. I'd eat them by the bag in Hong Kong especially, that and Toblerone. heh.

Hi there, socalheart,
Thanks for the reply! Do let me know if you see Maltese anywhere!
I was considering the last option which is to get my mum to buy
them from Singapore (my home-country..im homesick..) and send them
here since they are not that heavy.
Btw, are you from HongKong or lived there previously?
do you speak cantonese? ^-^

... that and Toblerone. heh.
You can buy Toblerone on-base and they as carry the Asbach chocolates (German brandy filled chocolates, cherry cordials are to die for) around Christmas time as well.

Hey Dawn....how are ya?
You can buy Toblerone at Jusco in Mihama, but you
were asking about Maltesers.
hmmm....have seen them in Jusco in the past but not recently. Don't think they last too well in theOkinawan
weather.
I would have some sent:)
A little off topic but, this reminds me of this chocolate bar from England (I think), that my wife gets off-base.
It's kinda like the wafer creme cookies that come in vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. BUt it's chocolate and about 3 times as fat and covered in chocolate and comes in an individual wrapper like a candy bar. Can't recall the name but they're awesome.

I have a maltese but you'll have to skin her before you can eat her, too hairy:D

I purchased some Malteasers from the Toys R Us down in Naha about 2 years ago. They also had the crunchy mint M&M's.
Nice Hanky. :barf: But then how would the chocolate stick?
And here I was thinking that Malta was becoming well known for their imported Mediterranean Chocolate.

Might want to check out their website, they have a contact section so they might be able to help. The Loose Women contest sounds interesting........

Dear All,
Thanks for all your replies! You guys are really kind!
Somewhere down the thread we began talking about the chocolates
we used to love and miss... aa..those sweet times...
Im reallly sorry for my major major spelling mistake! no wonder i couldn't
get the search results for that particular brand of chocolates. all i got are
a bunch of sites for doggies... malteses.. pardon me pardon me...
maltesers are the ones we are on a search quest for.
my colleagues are all feeling blue because it seems that they have become
extinct on Okinawa.....

It's called Tunnock's Wafer Cremes and they're good! These Caramel Wfer Biscuits also look good. I'll have to see if they have them here..

Just had to bump this up as I found those in Jimmy's, they were selling them individually... about 60yen for one. Ridiculous, I know but worth every yen.
They are just the best biscuits out there.
Thank you Ryu, for reminding me of them:thumbup1:
