Does anyone have kids who attend the East-West Montessori school? We are moving to Okinawa this summer and I think this will be where we will send my son. He currently attends a Montessori school on Whidbey Island, WA and has had an amazing experience. He will be two when we move, so I am looking for a school that has a toddler program.

I have a friend who's daughter that attends E-W Montessori...She likes it. Says her daughter does not learn a lot. Their program is learn-through-play.....It is average on the expense...depending on the yen rate. You will pay more if the yen rate is lower....it is starting to go up now though...hoping it will stay that way. I will look for a web site. I know they have an english one. When I find it, I will post it.

My daughter went there for pre-school and she liked it a lot. It was fine for pre-school and she was ready for kindergarten at a DODDS school. The teachers are nice. I thought it was a little expensive, but there weren't many alternatives. All in all, thumbs up.

There are a couple of really good pre-schools on island other than the Montessori. It really depends on where you are going to live to find which one may best fit your needs...

My daughter did learn a lot. The Montessori idea is that kids will learn faster if they are interested in something, so it's sort of a self-guided lesson plan. Also, they mix the kids by levels of ability and the "slower" kids will learn from the examples of the kids already performing a task. When we started to send her there I was a bit skeptical, but the results were clear to me. It was at least as effective as the more traditional pre-school that her brother attended in the states.
