And how is developing the northern part of Okinawa with an increased base presence and more traffic in the area going to help save the population?

I was lucky enough to see one of these little guys last time I was up north. We spent the night camping up north and my wife and I woke up to go to the near by family mart to buy snacks to get rid of our hangovers. Well we were going over a bridge and I looked down at the muddy banks and there was one just picking thorough the mud. Thought it was neat since there are so few of them left. Interesting little bird in my opinion.
