I may be getting medically boarded here shortly and I am planning for the worst. I just got here with my wife and if I am Seperated/Retired then I will still be spending another 3 years on island while my wife finishes out her time here (Active Duty Air Force). I dont plan on being the lazy no good husband that stays at home all day (Dont even have kids) and does nothing even though she said I could. Hopefully, one of you could help!
I am an avionics technician with 3 years experience currently holding a Secret Clearance.
But i'll mop floors if I have to I just want a job. Any and all ideas are appriciated.

Kadena has had some 1910 QA jobs open recently. All I can say is keep checking USA jobs, and make a network of friends.
Also, there are some contractor jobs around-Cubix I think it's called does some tech stuff on Kadena.
Maybe post an ad on the JU classifieds?
Better yet, come do my job and I'll sit on my ass all day. :)

What exactly is your job? How did you come about getting it? Just looking for a gist of how people get jobs on Kadena.
Any and everything helps!

As a reminder, joking or otherwise, it is against forum rules to make a personal attack.

AssHat's official job title is King Of Okinawa.... His duties consist of telling others what to do and taking extended smoke breaks in between him surfing the net on sailing forums talking to his rich friends throughout the world..
He actually gets paid to take trips to the Keramas and molest barely legal new-halfs.
Hey, it's not easy testing all the new condoms and beer that hits the market either!

You know I found this post funny because I knew so many people who were getting the "boot" for medical reasons because of knees or shin splints. Its funny because your going to work twice as hard in the civilian world. My knees are really messed now. Good luck on finding a job when you tell them you got the boot because of your weak knees. Im sure theyll smell laziness all over that one. You say youll mop floors? How enthusiatic of you. Do you know what is required of a janitor? Its some tough work. I see you doing 6 months then doing the same thing you did on active duty, giving up.

This post is bullshit. After the military I did construction, janitor, labor you name it and none were even remotly as hard as military life.

Please dude, stop with the lying. What branch was you in? I guess your going to start with the Navy Seal or some other b.s. I met this one dude who was telling everybody he was a navy corpsman in beruit and a USMC sniper. Nice, you meet all types. The only phsyically challenging work I had in the Corps was PT, humps, and field days. Otherwise it wasnt nothing compared to civilian work.

I was in the Corps and yes you are right technically the jobs I did after the Corps may be physically harder but all in all life is much esier. After all I'm working for the Japanese government now making bank and couldn't be happier. I love the Corps but I wouldn't trade my life here in Oki for the world.

Coordinator for International Relations
It really sucks that you guys have to do so much physical labor. At the end of my day, the only thing that hurts is my eyes from staring at a monitor and getting paid to google all day (and occasionally write apps:rolleyes:).

Coordinator for International Relations?.....saaaay what? Now where might this lofty position be located at? Are you paid by the J government? Please spill so I can pick it all apart...lol.
hey you did create the BEST forum in the WORLD!!!
I bought it. Best $160 I've ever spent. But I did help build the community. :thumbup1:
You all are what makes this the best forum on Okinawa.

Sounds like your blowing smoke dude. Work for the J government as an International relations coordinator? Your an MLC? United Nations? JET? J goverment aint so big anymore on hiring Gaijins.
I actually knew a girl with a similar (maybe same) title. She helped organize events, put together newsletters, and things like that. It wasn't rocket science. If you have a picture of some UN figure or something, no, it's not that lofty... It's lower level, but it's something.
