This is probably petty but when you guys split part of a thread into a new thread, and then link to it from the old thread, could you make it so the link opens up in the current window rather than opening a new window?

All links in posts open in a new window. I don't know of a way around that... I'm sure there's a way by dinking around in the templates, but I really don't want to do that. Besides, the point of links isn't to drive people away from a site.

I know what you mean, but there's no way for these forums to tell the difference that kind of link and a off-site news link.

I understand. Guess I was looking at it from a website designers point of view. Outside links = new window, Internal links = same window.

I've caught myself with several windows open without realizing it, so thought I would ask about it.

Yeah, with small-scale custom websites it's a lot easier to control. You should see the template system for this forum though lol. Makes me glad I know html already.

I'm sure some logic COULD be built into the template system to strip down the domain in the url to find out if it's a local link, but I really, really don't want to do that at this time. And I don't know enough about vbulletin's php coding yet so it'd be a pretty big headache for a pretty little thing.

I don't blame you, why fix something that isn't really broke! In actuallity you could end up "breaking" it in the process. So probably better to leave well enough alone.

Yeah, that's basically how I see it. :p
