So im pretty savvy about computers, I know what processes are going on in the background and im a FPS gamer on the pc so I know how to clear out my progs to max out my connection but lately ive been having this problem with my internet...
It will super load youtube for like 25% and then die...
Or images from websites, load up 25% of it and then die..
Or I download a zip file or prog, it bursts speeds up and dies...
I am suspecting the culprit is mediatti becasue my friend is having the same issue and he has his machine pretty locked down too...
Is anyone experiencing this problem as well??
So, basically, Mediatti still sucks? lol.

Well its been a real problem because when you are stuck here as a single person for 2 or in my case involuntarily stuck here for another year it becomes a life line of entertainment to pass the time away and when you pay top dollar for internet that blows its like comeeee on....
So if anyone has been experience the OP question and have fixed it I would love to hear how.
Sorry to hear all that, badvoodoo. Base internet has always blown as far as I have know. I hope you find the help you need. Too bad the bases won't/can't allow off base providers to provide internet.

I've got the exact same problem. I imagine it's something server-side that Mediatti is fuxxing up. Perhaps something in the way that they're capping bandwidth is causing it? Have you tried calling them about it?
It sounds to me like that speed boost thing Time Warner does. Basically the first x amount of bytes you download are really fast (probably at the connection speed you are actually paying for) and then you get throttled. This is supposed to make websites seem like they are loading faster or whatever, but really it's really shady if they didn't tell you about this (wouldn't surprise me...I hated Mediatti with a passion when I had them back in '05).
You can get DSL on base. I'm not sure about the price or speeds, but I do know that it is possible. GLBB is one provider I know of that can provide DSL on base.
Here's my Mediatti story:
Back in '04 or '05 (whenever Mediatti first started providing cable service on Foster), I was real quick to sign up with them. The cable internet worked great for the first few months and then it turned to shit. I mean, slower than dial-up shit. The wierd thing was that even if my computer was off, my modem's activity light would still be blinking like crazy. This happened to everyone in my barracks too and probably all of their customers. I put my modem in bridged mode and ran a packet sniffer on my machine to see what was going over the connection. It was thousands of ARP packets every couple seconds. Turns out every customers cable modem was flooding every other customer's cable modem with ARP packets. I called Mediatti up to find out why this was happening and they tried to tell me it was a problem with MY computer and that it was being caused by a virus or spyware. I was running Linux. They absolutely refused to admit their service was at fault and wouldn't reimburse me for the shittier than dial-up speeds. Hated them ever since.

Hate Mediatti with a passion.... not only does it suck living in the dorms with a bunch of kids, now I have to wait for almost an hour for a 10 minute clip on youporn.... what a waste of $40 a month....

Good! Our servicemembers serving in God's chosen CHRISTIAN military don't need to be watching porn! You should be extinguishing Islam from the face of the planet!
/bad sarcasm. anyone remember that crazy christian extremist site that C6 posted about a while back? can't seem to find it.
But seriously, has Mediatti really gotten that bad? It's been years since I've used them. I'm going to go home and give my fiber connection a big hug. All my spankwire, pornhub, youporn, and redtube videos load instantly :D
Edit: I know DSL on base isn't as fast as it is off base, but it definitely sounds like it would be faster than Mediatti. My company uses GLBB for DSL internet at our on-base offices and it's not too bad. I don't know the exact speeds though.
2nd Edit: Oh! I found it! http://www.landoverbaptist.org/ That site keeps me entertained. The forums are a gold mine.

I'm not sure. I know GLBB can provide service on base, but you'd have to contact them for more info. http://www.glbb.jp/

I have the same problem and when I called they told me it was my vonage device even though I've had it for years and never had the problem until I got here. I HATE Mediatti...
I just heard about Konnect DSL service offered by MCCS. If you're on a Marine base, try looking in to that as well.

Ya I would have to agree Mediatti is getting ridiculous. When I first had the service , it did me pretty well. Now its just plain crap...It takes forever to download things. I live on Kadena; anybody have any suggestions?

Move off-base...that idea sounds so crazy it might just work.
Unfortunately that's not an option :-/
I wish that were the case dk.
I heard from a Mediatti employee last October that they would be "upgrading" the system around December...lol the funny thing is around December is when I started having more problems.
Just when I had my hopes up.....

Mediatti is completely outdated in their infrastructure. What it seems to do is time-out a connection way too soon, thats why a video or page will load about 25% then stop. If you refresh youtube like mad it will eventually load all at once. The bandwidth is there, they just have a screwed up system that doesnt work right. They are seriously ripping off every single one of their customers!!

From what I hear, Mediatti has sucked since day one. Base internet has always sucked.

I talked to the folks at Mediatti on the phone today about the issue, and hung up saying "Well, at least they don't handle nuclear devices." Their internet help desk guy explained to me that it was impossible that something server-side would cause this. I don't know what goes on server-side, so I can't say for sure, and I took him at his word. I then explained to him that I had gone as far as to completely unplug my router, and go modem direct to computer, and that I'd done that with multiple machines, eliminating (or at least GREATLY dwindling the probability of) hardware issues on my end being the cause of the problem. He proceeds to explain to me that it could be my Vonage device. After explaining to him again that there was no router involved and that the Cat 5 was plugged directly from my modem in to my computer, he asked me what other devices were connected to my network.
...So I finally get through to him that the only devices involved are a computer and a modem. He then tells me (with all of his brilliance) that it could be one of 3 things. First, the modem, second, the computer, and C, the Cat 5 cable connecting them. I again explained to him that whole 'I tested this on multiple machines' deal, and he suggested that I try a new Cat 5. I obliged, used a different cable, no dice. Finally he said, "It's a longshot, but it could be the modem. Bring it in on Monday and we'll swap it out for you."
To which I replied, "It's before noon, I could come in there today and swap it out." He then explained to me some bs reason as to why they couldn't do it today, an explanation to which I obviously wasn't listening. He told me to come in Monday, and I asked him one more time if he was ABSOLUTELY sure that it was nothing going on server side with the way they cap bandwidth, or with the bandwidth being overpopulated, etc. To which he replied, "uhh... don't think so man, I don't know. pause..... No. It's not a problem on our side."
Hooray for Me(diatti)
Hurray for tech support. :D lmao
