Royal Restaurant has served patrons more than 40 yearsDate Posted: 2009-12-17 ![]() ![]() ![]() In Torii Station’s heyday, the restaurant was so popular that military bus service shuttled GI’s from the base to the Royal for tantalizing meals of every ilk, although Mexican and American Chinese have been the mainstays through the 40+ years since it opened in 1967. Popular to most of the officer clientele who took advantage of the restaurant’s penchant for fixing meals from scratch, using quality ingredients, Royal continues to serve up the delectable Mexican favorites such as tacos and enchiladas on a daiy basis. Be not deceived though, there’s much more than you’d expect at Royal. Steak and lobster served with sea urchin sauce is popular, with an array of Mexican entrees’ that include the customer-favorite tacos and enchiladas. Lunch specials abound, with meals costing a mere ¥700, including drink. From the moment customers pull up in front of the restaurant, a Gajimaru tree welcomes customers. Inside, the huge Indian elephant called Ganesah welcomes patrons once more. Asia taste interiors make clients feel right at home. At the Royal Gushikawa branch, the views are breathtaking, with blue skies, Nakagusuku Castle and Nakagusuku Bay holding attention by day, while the night offers a romantic atmosphere. Royal Restaurant is located at 1093 Sobe in Yomitan Village. The Gushikawa Branch is located near Makeman Home Center at 711-1 Takaesu.
