Standing tall for tug-of-warDate Posted: 2003-07-24 ![]() One of the most special was held in Tsukazan, Heabaru Town this past weekend. This tug-of-war is held only once every 10 years, although last year’s event was postponed by one year because of conflict with local elections. The special feature of this event is that the king and his men are standing on platforms that are supported by “1000 poles” that are carried by men called “chinmi.” The poles are called “rokushaku.” |
