Group beat two classmates; sends them to hospital

Date Posted: 2004-03-04

A group of five to six 14-year-old junior high school boys beat up two of their classmates on a beach Saturday because “those two looked down on us.” Nago Police Investigators say that the boys called the two to come join them on a beach, and when they came proceeded to beat them up for about an hour.

One of the victims suffered a broken left arm, the other had broken ribs, and both had severe bruises all over their bodies. Both victims were taken to a hospital. Doctors say that their injuries will take about one month to heal.

The police became involved when the parents of one of the boys contacted them and described what happened. The police then arrested three of the boys who lead the assault. When questioned, one of the assailants reportedly told police that they did not like the attitude of the victims. “We gave them a beating because they always looked down on us. They thought they were always somehow better than us, and that we are stupid, so we got mad at them,” the boy said.
