Makeman just moved to bigger and better facilities in the newly developed Chatan seaside area, where their new facility offers, in addition to everything you might need in your garden, a full array of home appliances, camping gear, do-it-yourself items, tools, hardware items, sporting goods, swimsuits, t-shirts, diving gear, kitchen supplies, home furnishings, electronics, car accessories, some toys for tots and just about anything else. The store still carries a large selection of pet supplies. The new store has been in business since March 26. As you walk up to the new Makeman you are greeted by vivid colors of pink, red, purple, yellow and green. There are rows and rows of herbs, household and outdoor plants just waiting to be planted. There are also a variety of ceramic, metal and plastic pots and vases from which to choose. One frequent customer said "It reminds me of Home Depot in the states. The color of the flowers are so brilliant in color and unique here in Okinawa." Another customer commented "I looked all over for a specific kind of screw, when I should have come directly to Makeman. It's a hardware person's dreamland." The staff is friendly and courteous and the store is open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, except they are closed the first Tuesday of each month. To get to the new Makeman, turn towards the sea at the Camp Lester main gate at Highway 58. Makeman is by the 7-Plex movie theater by the shore. There is a large free parking lot in front of the store. |
