Taiyou Ichiba bakes best pizza and other fareBy: Takeshi Yokokawa Date Posted: 2003-12-11 The restaurant serves a daily lunch buffet that features no less than 25 dishes of the day, as well as drinks and dessert from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Priced at ¥880 for adults and ¥480 for children it’s a deal that is hard to beat. At night, customers can indulge in even a wider variety of delicious dishes and appetizers. There’s also a large choice of beers and alcoholic beverages all served in a typical Japanese “izakaya” atmosphere (5:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m.). The restaurant fare, made from fresh, high-quality ingredients, is designed to satisfy a broad range of customers, from seniors to families, from businesspeople to university students, and from singles to couples. Taiyou Ichiba’s trademark dish is their pizza, baked in a stone oven specially imported from Naples and the first of its kind in Okinawa. The restaurant pays particular attention to the crispy texture of its pizza crust; they let the dough rise for 48 hours and then bake it over high heat (350 degrees Centigrade) in their oven, taking into consideration the day’s temperature and humidity. Many repeat customers come back just for the thin, crispy pizza. Taiyou Ichiba will offer a special Christmas dinner buffet on Dec. 24 and 25. Taiyou Ichiba has six branches in Okinawa: Chatan, Ginowan, Haebaru, Okinawa City, Nago and Naha City. The Mihama branch is located on the second floor of the Seaside Square Mall and is open daily. They have an English menu and accept major credit cards. For more information, contact Taiyou Ichiba Mihama branch at 098-926-0550. |
