Woman eludes kidnapper by crashing into rear of taxi

A woman who had been carjacked at knifepoint crashed her car into the rear of a taxi in order to get help in Kitanakagusuku. Thursday. The crash scared the assailant, who fled on foot only to be captured by police moments later. According to police, an 18-year-old youth approached the 20-year-old woman as she stopped at a bus stop and asked her to take him to a location near by. After the woman let the youth in, he pulled a box-cutting knife and told the woman to drive to another location.

In order to get help, the woman then crashed into a taxi that had stopped in front of her. The assailant fled when the taxi driver stepped out to investigate. The driver called police, who apprehended the hijacker shortly afterwards. When questioned, the youth reportedly admitted to the charges. I felt I wanted to molest a woman, the youth is quoted telling investigators. He was arrested on suspicion of illegal confinement and remains in police custody.
