Okinawa cultural assets registered for return

Date Posted: 2001-08-22

The Prefectural Board of Education has asked the US government to register thirteen items of cultural assets including the crown used by the King of the Ryukyu Kingdom in ritual ceremonies in the stolen artifacts file of the FBI. Those items are believed to be taken to the U.S. during the confusion right after WWII.

The Board of Education representative said Friday, that they had received a response from the U.S. Embassy in Japan certifying that all the items were registered. As the registration is made, those items will be returned after certain procedures are completed as soon as they are found.
