Gushikawa, Nakasato in Kume hold joint fest

The 2001 Kume Island Festival was held Saturday, and was, for the first time, conducted jointly by villages of Gushikawa and Nakasato. The two municipalities are scheduled top unite into one next April.

The festival was held in order to build up a friendly atmosphere between residents of the two villages before they unite. The festival site was crowded with many families and tourists, who all enjoyed dancing together and watching the stage performances.
