Wekend festivals offer plenty of family funDate Posted: 2010-07-22 ![]() ![]() ![]() The Eco Island Fest 2010 kicks off tomorrow at the Okinawa Convention Center, running 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Nago Summer Festival, the Festival of Blue Sky and Beer, takes place Saturday and Sunday at Nago Fishing Port. It’s the Nago Orion Beer Festival and has plenty of the beverage, as well as foods, entertainment and fireworks. The action begins at 11 a.m. each day. The Onna Festival runs 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Onna-son Community Square by Highway 58, and also includes fireworks in the evening. The Toyozaki Festa 2010 and Tomigusuku Haarii, the Dragon Boat Races, run 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Toyozaki Beautiful Sun Beach at Toyozaki Seaside in Tomigusuku. In Yonabaru, there’ll be an Eisa Festival Saturday only, beginning at 5 p.mn. at Agarihama Marine Plaza Kanehide. The Higashi Village Summer Festival & Fukuchi Dam Summer Nature Experience unfolds Saturday at Higashi Azalea Park and Fukuchi Dam. Events begin at 10 a.m. Sunday has five other one-day festivals, as well as the Higashionna Bullfighting Tournament. The bullfights are by admission only. Tickets for the tournament, which begins at 1 p.m. at Ishikawa Dome, are ¥2,500. The Iswhikawa Haari Sunday at Ishikawa Fishing Port in Uruma City begins at 9 a.m. The Kanna Dam Festival at Kanna Dam Shore Park in Kin runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., while the Aha Dam Learning Event is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Aha Dam in Kunigami-son. A Youth Eisa Festival takes place Sunday at 6 p.m. at San-A Gushikawa Main City in Uruma City, and the Oyama Tug-of-War will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday at Oyama Elementary School Grounds. All festivals are free. |
