1,000th baby born this year at the Naval Hospital Okinawa

Date Posted: 2009-11-25

Madelyn Michelle Bartee is a very special little girl.

Her mom and dad think so, and so does U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa. Madelyn Michelle, a healthy baby girl, is the 1,000th baby born at the military hospital in 2009. The 6 lbs. 15 oz, 20.5” long baby was born at 6:40 p.m. on November 18th.

Madelyn Michelle, and her parents, mother Chelsea N. Bartee from Eva, Ala., and father Cpl. Brandon M. Bartee of Lacey’s Spring, Ala., are doing fine. Cpl. Bartee is attached to Communications Company, Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, where he works in the Maintenance Section. In recognition of the honors, the Pacific Patchwork Quilt Guild has presented her with a personalized, hand made quilt.

U.S. Naval Hospital Okianwa Labor and Delivery Department delivers an average of 100 babies per month. The facility serves the entire DoD-affiliated community in Okinawa, and also serves as the referral center for the entire Western Pacific area of operations for specialized maternal-fetal medical care and neonatal intensive care.
