Homemade goodness is Sunrise philosophyDate Posted: 2009-11-19 ![]() ![]() That’s the Sunrise philosophy, and one that is ingrained in the owner, who’s mother has owned a Yakiniku Korean Barbeque Restaurant in Osaka for more than 50 years. The Sunrise owner considers his restaurant located on the first floor of Seaside Square behind the DIY Makeman in American Village in Chatan as an ‘Oldies but Goodies’ atmosphere, where freshly created foods are the norm. There are several secrets to Sunrise’s tasty creations. The best kept secret is the teriyaki sauce created by the owner’s mom. Alongside the sauce is the freshness; nothing’s stocked… it’s all served fresh. When a customer places an order, the cooking starts right then and there, in front of the customer, on the teppanyaki Japanese iron griddle. Sunrise uses 100% Japanese beef and Okinawan pineapple pork. Pineapple pork is well known, and famous on Okinawa as #1 quality pork. Without a doubt, it’s fresher and healthier than regular pork; clean and without any odor. Pineapple pork has 10-20% fewer calories and fat, but 1.5 times more Vitamin B2 and 405 times more amino acid. Sunrise creations are served on baguettes baked fresh by the baker, who uses sea water, natural yeast and quality wheat. What does it all mean? Freshness, and there’s no border for such delicious foods. Sunrise cheese sandwiches go beyond the border. Sunrise is located in Chatan American Village, easily reached from Kadena by going south on Highway 58 to the Kuwae Intersection and turning right. Pass two signals then immediately turn right, cross the small bridge and look for the bowling place. That’s Seaside Square, and Sunrise is on the street level of that. |
