Golden Kings center heads for NBADL

Chris Ayer, the Golden Kings center instrumental in the Okinawa squad winning the 2008-2009 Basketball League Japan crown, has been picked up by the National Basketball Association’s Development League.

Ayer, a leader on the Loyola Marymount University squad in his college years, spent three years in the Basketball Japan League, including two with the Oita HeatDevils. He was picked up as the Number 13 selection in the sixth round of the NBA DL draft. Ayer scored 17 points for the Golden Kings in the championship game against the Tokyo Apache last spring.
