Criminal charges are filed against Kin Town worker

Date Posted: 2009-11-05

The wheels of justice move slowly, but a Kin Town worker who ripped off public funds in 2006 is finally going to trial.

Civil suits against the woman working at the Kin Town Yaka area community hall have been in place since 2007, but now Ishikawa Police are sending the theft paperwork to the prosecutor’s office. They’d already sent one set of documents in the case of a few million yen stolen by the woman, who worked at the community hall since 1992, taking care of people’s money and reserve funds.

Police investigators say all of the bookkeeping handled by the woman was falsified, right down to fake receipts, bank books, etc. They say the woman made everything herself, and more than ¥100 million is missing. While charges had been filed before, the case wasn’t moved forward until local citizens began complaining. The woman involved in the thefts has admitted committing the crimes.
