Date Posted: 2009-11-05

Kadena High School slashed its way to a 4-2 victory over Miyazaki Industrial High School to win the All Kyushu Fall Baseball Tournament, earning a berth in the nationwide tournament set to begin November 14th.

It was the fourth time an Okinawa high school has won the Kyushu championship, dating back to 1997, when Okinawa Fishery High School won the first time. Yaeyama Commercial High School was the last to win the Kyushu tournament, doing the honors for Okinawa in 2006. Once the All Japan Nationwide Baseball Tournament is in the books, high schools begin preparing for a chance to play at the nationís biggest event, the Summer Baseball Championships at Koshien Baseball Stadium in Hyogo Prefeture.
