Everything going to dogs this weekend

Bowserís the king this weekend at the Wan Wan Festival being hosted at Marine Plaza Agarihama this weekend.

Never short of festivals, Okinawa this weekend goes the extra steps to feature on exclusively for manís best friend, the dog. The Bow Wow Festival at Kanehide Agarihama Branch Saturday and Sunday takes place in the Marine Plaza Agarihama parking lot, near the power tent, from 11 a.m. 5 p.m.

Itís all for the dogs, with a few additional elements for cats who love dogs, including friendship exchanges with, and for dogs, pet potty training, a health council, recruiting of dog foster parents, and fund raising activities for disaster rescue dog actions.

Dog races and quizzes, games for dogs take place each day at noon, followed by training on how to communicate with dogs at 1 p.m. More games take place at 2 p.m., including one point entertainment contest and a dog posing contest. Disaster rescue dog training starts at 3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, including information and training for part-time police dogs. Thereís also a flying ball contest for dogs, and elementary school children may participate. Friendship exchanges and therapy for dogs takes place at 4 p.m.

To get to Marine Plaza Agarihama, drive south on Route 329 towards Yonabaru, and look for a sign pointing left to Marine Town. Turn left again at the second intersection and the Marine Plaza Agarihama is on your right.
