Miyazato excited, optimistic about future

Date Posted: 2009-08-13

Ai Miyazato, back on home soil after a victory and a near win in Europe, is ready for tomorrow’s NEC Karuizawa 72 Golf Tournament here in Japan.

The 24-year-old Okinawan, who won the Evian Masters in France, then nearly pulled an upset as she finished third in the Women’s British Open in the past couple weeks, is ready for action here as the U.S. Ladies Professional Golf Association takes a two-week break. “I’ve had a valuable two weeks,” the Higashi Village native says. “It’s going to be a big turning point in my golf career.”

Miyazato is now fourth on the 2009 LPGA money standings list. She’s been non-committal on future tournaments to be played in Japan, with exception of plans for the Japan Women’s Open in the fall. The Japan Women’s Open, scheduled for October 1~4, is one of four JLPGA major tournaments.
