Orion Beer wins award for greeneryDate Posted: 2002-10-18 In awarding the company, officials at the Japan Greenery Promotion Association noted that the company has also promoted greenery in the surrounding community by giving local residents over one million plant seedlings since 1986. Orion Beer has also steadily increased the greenery at the premises. For example, the tore down a gray concrete fence that used to surround the brewery and replaced that with a natural fence. They also planted several coconut palms on the property. By cultivating trees and plant in the area surrounding the actual factory, they have created a park-like atmosphere to the whole area. Munematsu Yaka, a director at the brewery says that green image goes well with brewing business. “We are in the business of making good beer, and part of the image of a good beer is freshness and cleanliness. Having trees, green lawns and flowers surrounding us just makes good business sense,” Yaka says, adding that “Nago City has plenty of greenery, but we can always make more to make the city even more attractive and beautiful. That target fits perfectly with our thinking at Orion Beer.” |
